Democratise (formerly FutureDigital) was founded in New Zealand in 1997 as Wairua Consulting. Our new name reflects our relaunch in 2012, our new based in Europe and our broader approach. Away from digital democracy towards a more strategic and systemic approach to democratic strengthening, open government and effective engagement. It reflects our mission to operate as a collaborative social business, where we partner for good and put people and communities ahead of profit.
What hasn't changed is our passion and the way our team delivers high-value, cost-effective advice, resarch, mentoring and training that is world-leading and thought provoking.
Andy is an internationally recognised expert in digital democracy, innovation and transforming engagement. An experienced consultant, researcher and commentator focussing on digital and social media, society and policy, Andy has a passion for finding innovative ways to engage.
Esther is a social entrepreneur, innovator and coach with a background in human rights, policy and campaigning. She works in and with not-for-profits and social enterprises. She is a Clore Fellow and founding Director of The Social Change Agency.
Martin is a creative leader and facilitator with extensive experience in the private and public sectors. He specialises in organizations, regions and nations capacity for collective learning and development, bringing an inspiring, energetic and often revolutionary approach to his work.
Morten is a recognised expert on participation and engaging citizens with their government through architecture, usability and inter-operability. Peviously with the European Institute of Public Administration, the Danish Technological Institute and Head of Section at Digitaliseringsstyrelsen (the Danish Agency for Digitisation), Morten currently works with eVoting verifiability and is pursuing a PhD at the Ragnar Nurkse School of Innovation and Governance, Tallinn University of Technology.
